Self Defense Tips For Women

July 14th, 2010 admin No comments

Physical self defense is all about inflicting the maximum amount of damage quickly, allowing yourself a safe and quick escape from the situation at hand. While all individuals should have basic training in defending themselves, it is of vital importance for women who are often considered the more vulnerable and likely to be attacked. Self defense for women is indeed a necessity.

When you are attacked, it is pretty certain that it is not the time to try to talk your way out of the situation. Often the predator will either be drunk, high, physiologically ill, or have another serious condition that will keep common sense from reaching them. You will need to have a little education so that you can react quickly to inflict pain and or injury so that you are able to escape unharmed.

Of course there are some easy solutions that women can take to protect themselves. Especially those who live around dangerous areas or large cities should carry a form of protection at all times. This could simply be a gun (although you will have to have the required permits to carry this weapon), or a pepper spray.

Pepper spray is very effective and can be snapped onto ones keys or purse in the event of an unfortunate event such as this. These can offer protection against human attackers, and animals such as dogs. These are both great solutions to consider as a form of protection.

Another great option is to enroll in some self defense classes. These would be helpful in that they will teach you to remain calm and think clearly in an emergency situation, giving you confidence to face your attacker and prevail. The goal of any self defense class will primarily be to train one to recognize and avoid a confrontation before it actually occurs. But in those instances where this is not possible, you will need to know how to protect yourself.

No matter how large an attacker may be, it will not take a significant amount of force to damage him in such a way that he is forced down, allowing your escape. You will need to actually bodily injure your attacker to hurt him and bring him down. And if you know the rules of physics and physiology well enough, you will be able to do this with ease.

Keep in mind that physical self defense will not involve a wrestling match in any way. Actually, this is exactly what you are seeking to avoid. Instead, you should be able to quickly evaluate the situation and choose the best method for inflicting pain and injury to your opponent without allowing them to get to you first.

This can involve a broken or disjointed bone, gouged eyes, a ruptured testicle, or some other such easy to inflict injury. You will need to create a reaction in your opponent that will inflict such pain upon them that they will not be able to think about anything else for the moment, allowing you the chance to make your escape. And this is exactly what you should do at the first possible chance.

Why Carry Or Use Personal Alarms?

April 21st, 2010 admin No comments

There can be a need for personal alarms now a day for a number of reasons. The number one reason these alarms would be used is for protection. When you find yourself traveling along at night or during the day, having the use of a personal alarm can provide you with a mild sense of security.

If you are someone that needs to travel at night or usually partake in activities that normally are done along, then these alarms are good to have on your person.

When looking to carry a personal alarm, you may want to consider the reason you may find yourself in a position to use it. If you travel alone often, if you work at night or on different shifts, if you have a disability and may need assistance due to an accident or if you just want to feel comfortable in your surroundings. Having a personal alarm available can help ease anxieties that could arise with any of these situations.

An alarm that can be personally carried on your person comes in different sizes with minimal features. Though they are relatively small in size there are variations. There are different names that are used to characterize them such as a personal defense alarm, portable safety alarm, personal safety devices or also known as a personal security alarm.

Because these alarms are made to be carried on you person, meaning on your body, in your purse or pants, somewhere that is easily accessible; they come in miniature sizes. Some of these devices have attached strings that can be attached to your clothing or bag and some may have lanyard strings that can be hung around the neck.

You will have to decide the best carrying option that fits your need. If you feel more comfortable having immediate access to the alarm then a hand carried one or one with an attachable string may work. Since they are small in size, these items can be carried by a small child if necessary as well as woman in their hands is an optional way to carry while walking, jogging or participating in any activities that is feasible for holding it.

Though the alarm may be miniature in size, which makes it the perfect hidden device, it packs a powerful punch with at least 120 decibel ear piercing high pitch sound. The sound has a deafening piercing effect that resembles the screeching of a siren which will award or deter any attacker. Whereas these alarms are not defense mechanisms within themselves; couple with another devices such as mace or pepper spray, it can be effective deterrent during an attack.

It is not only good to use as a personal alarm to ward off any emergent attack, but it is definitely good to have in case of an incident or accident. If you have injured yourself and need assistance the alarm on this safety device will bring attention to others that may be passing by alerting them to the fact that you are in need of help.

Stun Guns Are Not Lethal But Very Effective

April 14th, 2010 admin No comments

The main reason why it pays to use stun guns is that they allow you to protect yourself from attacks. Even if it never becomes necessary to use these guns, you will always feel secure and safer as well as more confident knowing that you have some means of defending yourself. These guns offer a lot of power and quality and work in unique ways.

Stun guns can disrupt signals to the muscles from the brain and this will cause the assailant to drop and they will even forget how to move their legs and arms. Of course, before shopping for such guns it is important to check whether it is legal to use them in your state.

There are several options available in so far as picking the right stun guns go, with some being very affordable and others having very high capability of stopping assailants. These guns are also not lethal but yet pack a lot of power. They are equipped with safety switches and are generally backed by a one year warranty.

There are many options to choose from though an option in which the gun can produce 625000 volts is certainly one of the best. Such guns are over seven inches long but only two inches wide and are designed to fit even the smallest pair of hands. They also have a quarter of an inch diameter and can withstand a lot of power, but are also not lethal at the same time.

These guns are not sold to people below the age of eighteen years and are also not sold to those who have previously been convicted of crimes that involved serving long prison sentences. A fugitive from Justice is also denied permission to own such a gun and the same goes for those who are drug addicts or even drug users and who have been convicted of such crimes.

A person with mental disabilities or who has been committed to a mental institution is not allowed to own or use a stun gun and the same is the case with people that have been given dishonorable discharge from the military. If you have been served court orders prohibiting you from stalking, harassing or threatening your intimate partner or even your child, then you cannot be sold a stun gun.

However, stun guns are not considered to be firearms and are mostly legal to carry in virtually every state in the US.

Stun guns are especially designed to disrupt the attackers nervous system and so can prove to be ideal for self defense purposes. These guns aim their energy at the muscles which receive a high pulse frequency that forced the muscles to work very fast but inefficiently. The faster the muscles work, the more blood sugar gets to be converted into lactic acid and this leads to quick loss of energy and neurological impulses traveling through the attackers body will be interrupted.

This leads to disorientation and a loss of proper balance and this in turn makes the assailant become passive as well as confused for a short period of time, which is enough for you to make your escape and seek help.
