The SentrySafe H3300 Fire And Waterproof Security Safe

Many smart home owners spend money on home security products to protect their home from criminals. This is always a good thing and i would never say otherwise, but there are valuables within your home that may not interest a burglar, but their loss would be devastating none the less.

Imagine if you were to loose your family photos, or important financial documents in a fire, it would be devastating. It will be a hassle but your documents can eventually be replaced, but a family photo once lost is gone forever.

You need to protect these things with a fireproof safe, and if you are in the market for one, you may want to consider the highly rated SentrySafe H3300 Fire and Waterproof Security Safe

The H3300 is manufactured by SentrySafe.Unlike other manufacturers who produce a diverse product range, the SentrySafe product line is almost entirely security safes.Everything from inexpensive fireproof chests, to burglary resistant floor safes.

The sentrysafe model h3300 is not intended for homeowners looking for theft protection. It is designed exclusively to protect your most important documents from a devastating house fire, and from the water damage the is always the result of the fire departments effort in putting these fires out.

The things that make this safe such a good buy are its certified half hour UL fireproof rating ,the fact that it is waterproof, and the large interior storage space.

UL fireproof rating

Murphy’s law states that anything that can happen, will happen eventually, and at the worst possible time.I personally do not like to dwell on the possibility of the loss that comes with a house fire, but since it is a possibility i must prepare for it.

The SentrySafe H3300 has been tested and certified by Underwriters Laboratories, to protect the contents of your safe for one half hour at 1500 degrees. What is also cool is that if you are unfortunate enough to go through a fire, SentrySafe will replace your chest with a new one.

Protection against water damage

Most homeowners only consider a safes fireproof or burglar resistance rating when shopping for one. But water damage can be just as destructive, and it is something to take into consideration.

The aftermath of any house fire is always going to involve some water damage. Your important documents and files may survive a fire, only to be destroyed by the water used in putting one out. This safe has been certified waterproof by ETL , and you can rest assured knowing that your valuables will be protected both during and after a fire.

Lots of storage space

Up until now, i was storing my important documents in a shoe box in my closet. But ever since purchasing my SentrySafe H3300, i am suddenly finding all sorts of documents, that honestly speaking i have been negligent with.

The H3300 is roughly one foot square, and offers lots of storage space. The problem is that as large as this safe is, you are still going to have to do some prioritizing.

There are some documents that really cannot be copied, such as your diplomas, marriage license, passports…etc. But there are lots of other documents that can be digitized and stored on removable media. Things like old tax returns, receipts, even your photo album can be scanned and archived. This will free up a lot of space.

Minor issue

Being a typical guy i neglected to read the owners manual. I mean what is there to know. You open the safe you place the items you need protected inside and you close it…simple enough.

Well i spent the better part of an hour trying to get my unit open, and was about to send it back for a refund when my wife suggested that i take a look at the owners manual.

Apparently as part of its waterproof design, you are required to push down in order to release the gasket seal when opening…who knew.

This design feature is really only an issue for those of us that hate reading owners manuals, everyone else should have no problem with their purchase.

My personal motto is to prepare for the worst, and hope for the best. The SentrySafe H3300 fire and waterproof security safe, works with this philosophy perfectly.

As someone who has experienced a house fire first hand, i can tell you it is frightening. The only thing worst than the fire itself is trying to put your life back together afterwards. One way of ensuring that this is as painless as possible, is by securing your important documents in one of these safes.

Information On Hidden Wall Safes

If you have been to a movie in the past fifty years you have seen a wall safe in use. normally there is a picture hanging on a wall that is moved to reveal the hidden safe.
Putting aside the fact that they are very cool for a moment, are they really any more secure than a regular floor safe. The answer is a complex one because variables such as the burglary resistance rating, and the location were it is installed come into play.

Hiding locations

A wall safe is normally installed between the studs that make up the wall. Since every room in your home has a wall there are unlimited locations where they can be installed. Your ability to hide the safe will have a huge impact on the actual security that it provides.

Normally in movies we find them installed behind picture frames, so guess where a burglar will look first.
The method of concealment must give the casual observer the impression that the object in question is solid and permanent. Anything that can be moved and checked probably will be …so painting or wall hung mirrors are out.

Instead of picture frame, how about using a built in bookcase with a spring loaded access panel ,or how about the back of a broom closet concealed by a removable wall section. These two suggestions may ad a few hundred dollars to the installation cost, but they will increase the actual protection offered a thousand fold. You are only limited by your imagination.

Protection levels

The protection ratings on a wall safe are no different than on floor standing models. They start at burglary resistant, which means being able to resist common household tools such as hammers and screwdrivers, and in theory can go up to one that has a TL-30 .

At this point a little clarification is needed. When we talk of a TL-30 safe we are speaking about a serious piece of work.It means that if you allowed a professional burglar to bring the proper safe cracking tools, and gave him a solid 30 minutes to work on the safe he would not be able to open it.

A wall safe at this burglary resistance level would be prohibitively heavy and probably could not be installed between standard wall studs, which is why they tend to have less burglary resistance when compared to floor models.

The weakness

The real weakness of a wall safe is not its burglary protection level, but the actual weight of the unit.A burglar is working on a deadline and will not waste precious minutes trying to open a safe he is not sure he can open.

However he may decide to rip it from the wall and have it opened somewhere else. And since these wall models weigh less than one hundred pounds it can be done by two adults easily.

Brains over brawn

Your average criminal will normally spend less than twenty minutes in your home. This is assuming that you have no alarm system or that it has been bypassed. The second he enters your home the countdown starts because he knows the risk of getting caught increases by the minute .

A properly hidden wall safe could take a professional days to find, depending on the size of your home, and how clever you were in its concealment.
If i were a betting man, i would wager that The only way a burglar could possibly find yours in the time that he has to work with would be if someone told him where to look.

Preventing Daytime Burglaries with Smart Home Security

Did you know that 99% of all burglaries are committed at night, at least that is what the movie industry would like you to believe. The fact of the matter is that the vast majority of burglaries happen during the daytime hours.
This may seem counter intuitive, until you consider the fact that in most middle class neighborhoods, from about nine in the mourning till about two thirty in the afternoon, most homes are empty. This is due to both adults working, and the kids being in school.

A successful criminal stays out of prison by being invisible. A burglar working the night shift does this by using the dark to conceal his actions, but what does a criminal use for concealment in the middle of the day.

Hiding in plain sight

Daytime burglaries are most often committed by people who look like they belong in the neighborhood. They conceal their intentions by hiding behind an non threatening facade.

They could be dressed as a delivery person, or they could be the guys in the landscaping truck. There are a thousand different disguises that can be used. The one common denominator is that they look like they have a reason for being there.
If you are paying attention they can be identified by their actions, not what they are wearing. This is the one instance when having a nosy neighbor can be a good thing.

Neighborhood watch

I hate to say it , but neighborhood watches are a great idea. Growing up I used to picture the neighborhood watch as being a bunch of busy bodies with too much free time , and cheap flashlights. But in reality it is nothing more than concerned members of a community observing and reporting any suspicious activities.
The closer knit your particular community is the harder it is for these types of robberies to happen. There have been cases were these crooks have simply rented a moving van and proceed to empty out the house in plain view of anyone who wanted to watch.
I am pretty close with my next door neighbors, and if i happen to notice a U-haul truck in their driveway, I am going to ask a few questions.

Home Security

You need to invest in a monitored alarm system. I would love to be able to give you some no money needed sure fire tip like, making your home look occupied… but who am I kidding. You give me five minutes and I will be able to tell you if someone is home, so can a burglar .

The basic rules for home security need to be followed. Things like protecting exterior doors with magnetic contacts, installing glass break detectors, and motion detectors, installing a high security deadbolt lock set. If you still want to do a few things to make your home look occupied, go right ahead.

Security cameras

There is nothing a criminal hates more than a security camera. These devices have cut short many promising criminal careers. Most other incriminating evidence can be fabricated, or manipulated, but when the police accuse you of a crime, and they have unedited security camera footage of you committing it…GOD himself had better be your alibi.
Even if your home is burglarized, this footage can be used to identify the suspects and eventually make an arrest.

Small flaw

To avoid having their faces captured on tape, some criminals have started exploiting a flaw in the way most security cameras are positioned. Have you ever noticed that most security cameras are mounted high on the wall. This is done for many reasons, one of which is to keep them from being vandalized, or tampered with.

The problem is that many criminals have discovered that wearing a baseball cap will partially obscure their face, due to the camera angle. It is a very smart way of not having your face captured on tape. But guess what…we are even smarter. Smile you are on candid camera.

Hidden cameras

The primary reason given for not mounting a security camera lower on a wall is fear of vandalism. The solution is to position covert cameras at about eye level.

This has a few benefits. The first is that the vandalism problem is eliminated because if they are unaware of the camera there is nothing to vandalize.

The second benefit is that you are much more likely to capture a face because the criminal sees no camera, and therefore has no reason to hide his face. even criminals who make it a habit of wearing baseball caps to hide their faces, will be more likely to have their pictures taken when the cameras are positioned at this much lower angle.

As a homeowner you are not given the choice of when and where are burglar will strike. It is our job to have a home security plan in place that makes it difficult if not impossible for him to get away with it.

Home Security Advice For The Professional Burglar

The home security industry sells a billions of dollars worth of products and services every year.Everything from thermal security cameras costing tens of thousands of dollars, to imitation models costing only ten. But what products are really effective when it comes to deterring a skilled burglar. Most products on the market today are geared toward defending against the amateur criminals, and this makes perfect sense since they commit the majority of property crimes. But what about the professionals.

Amateur criminals

The first question you need to ask yourself is whether your home is more likely to be targeted by a professional burglar or an armature, and just what is the difference. Amateur burglars are for the most part untrained and impulsive. They choose their targets based on gut instinct and tend to be opportunistic .The techniques used during a break ins are rarely ever subtle.Tactics like lock picking , or alarm bypassing are almost never used. These are the people that the majority of home security products are designed to stop.

The Pro

A professional can be recognized by at least two traits. Their meticulous planning, and skillful execution. These guys will do reconnaissance on a target for weeks, until they know more about the home and the routine of its owner than the owners themselves.
Things like the model of the alarm system installed, the extent and location of its zones, even what time the homeowner has dinner, and goes to bed are all documented.
When they do break in they do so knowing with absolute certainty that they can circumvent the particular alarm system that is installed, and open the exact model door lock, because it has all been researched ahead of time. Dealing with this type of criminal will require a different approach

Covert security

stopping a skilled burglar cannot be done by using standard devices and techniques alone.I once had to call a locksmith to my home and was shocked at how fast he was able to open my supposedly high security door lock. Most of the advanced techniques used by burglars are actually skills used by legitimate alarm technicians and locksmiths, but used in a criminal way.

The only real way to defend against someone with this type of technical savvy is to hide the true nature and extent of your home security system. Most devices like motion detectors, glass break detectors, and magnetic contacts, are available in a low profile or discrete configurations.A burglar that is looking at your property as a potential target, will be looking for these devices. If they cannot be located then they cannot be defeated.

Hidden cameras

As great as home security cameras are they are of little use against a skilled criminal.when your home is first being given the once over, your camera system will be the first thing they take note of.What is the coverage area, are there any blind spots…etc.

Once a burglar is aware of your camera set up, he simply has to avoid the area that is covered, or if the area cannot be avoided, take steps to conceal his identity.Unless your camera system is being monitored live,There only real purpose will be to act as an deterrent.

If it is your intent to capture your burglars face on video, a hidden camera may be better suited for this.

Dogs

A loud barking dog is a potential burglars worst enemy, but not for the reason most people believe. There are very few dogs that can be labeled as man stoppers, meaning they posses the size and tenacity to stop an aggressive assailant. This is actually a good thing because having an animal that dangerous on your property is a lawsuit or tragedy waiting to happen.

What you really need is a dog that is all bark with very little bite. The last thing a burglar wants is to have your dog barking his head off and attracting attention.

The battle against a skilled burglar will not be won by using the latest home security equipment. It will take the ability to see your home the way a criminal sees it, and anticipate his moves.

The Defender GK300-7M2 Video Intercom System

There are many consumers who are not afraid to invest a little more money in a security product if they know that this product will provide a higher level of safety for them as well as their family. Anybody who is considering upgrading their home with an intercom device, might want to consider whether or not it offers video surveillance. Because this is becoming such a popular thing we will be taking a closer look at the Defender GK300-7M2 Video Intercom System.

There might be a few readers out there who do not fully understand why video surveillance is such a very important thing to look for in any type of intercom system. This feature allows the home owner, not only the opportunity to hear their guests, but to clearly see them on a screen as well. There are some very clever home invaders who can work around an intercom system that only provides the home owner with an audio feed.

The problems that most consumers have with these devices are typically centered around the quality of the video camera that is used for surveillance. So many units on the marketplace will use very cheap cameras, with poor quality lenses and the result is less effective than desired. This unit has a camera that utilizes the standard night vision feature, what this means is that the home owner can clearly see their guests standing at the door, even when it is very darkly lit outside.

So many consumers will agree that great amounts of money can be saved on devices that are purchased separately yet intended to be used with such devices. A lot of these products are sold, along side the security system, in bundles that are often quite cost effective. The most popular add on for this device would have to be the door strike module. This is a device that allows the door to be easily opened and shut by the use of a clever remote control unit.

There are many people who do not like the idea of people knocking on their doors, and this is why door bells have become so very popular. It is important to consider that this device offers many of the benefits of a high quality electronic door bell unit, while still being a very effective home security product. It offers eight different door bell jingles to keep the user busy. A song exists for the promotion of most popular holidays as well as seasons.

There are many people who will not argue with the fact that the most important type of thing that a person can expect from this type of product, is a very high level of customer support. The company that sells this product offers a live customer support hot line that will be able to not only assist in emergencies but in technical issues involving the device as well. It is always very important to remember than the proper emergency personal should be notified though the use of a 911 service, in the event of an emergency.

So many consumers are easily discouraged by such products because they are so very afraid that they won’t be able to easily install them. This type of device is easily wired into the home owner’s current door bell set up and the product comes with very detailed instructions that will greatly insist any consumer through the process of installing such a device. Many people probably already have the necessary tools at home in their garage.

After considering this brief yet extensive look at the Defender GK300-7M2 Video Intercom System, you should be able to do some further research on the product for yourself. This review should help you to better understand some of the better features that the system has to offer.

Today with crime rates on the rise across the country, people looking for more effective ways of protecting their homes, and loved ones. Window security bars are an effective way of preventing burglars from ever entering your home.Modern alarm systems are marvels of technology, and they provide amazing security. That being said, there are trained burglars who can disable these devices in a matter of minutes, leaving your home completely vulnerable.

With a window bar in place, there is no easy , sophisticated way of bypassing them.In order to get past these devices, it will require time, the right tools, and it will be loud and messy…these are things that burglars trying to stay out of jail will avoid.

Many people believe that having a loud barking dog is all the security they need, the short answer to this is no.A loud barking dog will deter the less sophisticated burglar, but if a thief has cased your home, and decided that it is worth the risk, they will come prepared to incapacitate your pet.

High security door locks are a great idea, but do not take the marketing hype to seriously.A professional burglar can definitely open one of those so called bump-proof, pick-proof door locks,it will just take a little longer.

Most people think of home security as something that protects your home, and your possessions when you are not there.I would argue that your most valuable possession is your life, and that of your family.Burglar bars will protect you when you are at home, let ADT worry about protecting your things when you are not there.

During a home invasion, criminals use the element of surprise to their advantage. They want to get in your home and subdue you as quickly ,and efficiently as possible. They can do this in one of two ways. The first is by simply walking up to your front door, and forcing their way in, once you answer it. This can be prevented by not opening your door to strangers. The second way is by using one of the standard entry points favored by burglars…that’s right, your main floor windows, so protect them.

Many homeowners will not even consider installing this security measure simply for aesthetic reasons. To be perfectly honest, widow bars will look more at home in an urban setting. But they do come in a wide variety of ornate designs and colors, and can blend into just about any neighborhood.

Great for keeping criminals out, even better for keeping your kids in. Every so often we hear of a tragedy involving a young child falling out a window to their death. This problem has even caused laws to be written, requiring landlords to place window bars on any rental unit that has a young child.

What about being locked in during an emergency? A few decades ago ,there were a few highly publicized tragedies involving residents being trapped behind these bars during a fire. This was due to the poor design of the earlier models.Today all window bars are required by law to have an easily accessible release mechanism. This way even in the middle of blinding smoke, you will be able to open it using touch alone.

If you are looking for a cost effective way of protecting your family as well as your home, i highly recommended that you consider investing in window security bars. These devices are probably one of the best purchases that you will ever make for your family and your home.

The AAS 600 Wireless Home Security System Reviewed

The AAS 600 wireless home security system is an outstanding alternative to a traditional hard wired monitored alarm. You will not be required to pay costly recurring monthly fees like like those charged by ADT, or Broadview, in order to feel safe in your home. This product has consistently received high praise from its loyal customers. There have been hundreds of positive reviews, but they all seem to be saying the same thing. That this product will provide all the protection your home needs, for a fraction of the cost of those costly traditional systems.

Choosing the right wireless security system is a simple two step process.First you need to determine the level of security that your home is going to require. This means taking into account the size of your property, the crime rate in your neighborhood, and even any particularly expensive possessions you may own. The second step to this process will be to find a security system that meets your needs without being overkill. It may sound easy, but having to wade through all of the different options and products on the market today, can be a bit overwhelming. However if you are like most homeowners, you may just need to be notified in the event of an alarm activation, and will not need a centrally monitored system. If so,the AAS 600 is the right product for you. This system features an automatic notification function that will call you, or any number that you choose,in the event of an alarm activation. You won’t get this feature with a traditional hard wired system unless you purchase an additional auto dialer unit, which will add to its cost.

This product comes with some realy cool features, like the Two way voice communication,a remote control, and the cutting edge rolling code technology. All with no added costs. These features are normally optional upgrades on a traditional system. I did notice one a short-coming with this product. It is a closed system ,meaning that you are required to use the components designed specifically for it.I am not saying that it is not expandable…it is,but you have to use their components. Other systems currently on the market allow for a lot more flexibility. These other products are designed so that you can use equipment from other manufacturers, and in some cases they even support wireless integration which allows you to customize using wireless devices.

The first step in designing your perfect home security system will be to figure out what is needed to protect the perimeter of the home. This will usually mean magnetic contact alarms on all of the exterior doors, and your main floor windows as well. Once you have determined and implemented your basic perimeter defense plan.We now need to install devices that will back up your homes primary defense, this means motion detectors, and glass break detectors. There are professional burglars that know not to open a window, because it may be protected by an unseen contact alarm. So they will break the window instead and climb through. The backup to your window alarm in this case would be a glass break detector, or possibly a motion detector.Glass break detectors work by monitoring the protected area for the specific sound that broken glass makes.

The motion detectors should be placed in your homes common areas, like the family room, or main hallways where people have to walk. We place these devices in common areas because while we may not know with certainty where a burglar may go once in your home, we know he has to use a hallway or stairs to get there . Glass break detectors, along with motion detectors can also be used to cover the large expanses of glass normally found in the living room or kitchen area. When positioning your motion detectors, try to be as discreet as possible. When you are hardening your home against a more skilled burglar, you cannot show your hand. You have to always keep him guessing about the layout of your security system. I like to place my motion detectors right above the entrance to a room. This way you have to actually enter the protected area, before you even notice it.

The tactic of having the two layers of protection is not really my creation, it is used by security system installers everywhere, because it works. There are even some that ad a third and fourth layer to their systems, by including covert surveillance devices. The most important thing to remember is that when securing your home, you have home field advantage, use it. If done properly there is no way for an intruder to know the exact layout of your security system.

If you are going to allow your pets to roam freely in the house you are going to have to invest in pet immune motion detectors. This new technology takes into account the size of the object.Small objects such as a cats or dogs that weigh less 50 pounds will not set off an alarm. Before this technology came out, pet owners were plagued by false alarms, due to their pets. Now we can alarm the interior of our homes at night, and still allow the family pet freedom to roam.

The AAS 600 wireless system comes configured with 32 alarm zones with tree sensors in each zone. If needed the system can easily be expanded to include 96 sensors. It comes with some of the features that you would only expect to find on professionally installed systems. Things like rolling code technology,a silent alarm feature, you can even be alerted if someone tries to cut your phone line. There is nothing currently on the market, at this price, than has what this system has to offer. When you take all this into account, including that there is no monthly fee…it gets two thumbs up.

Protection One Home Security Company Reviewed

Protection One home security company offers custom security systems that work according to the needs of the individual consumer. As one of the largest and most well-established security companies in the nation, they offer the installation, maintenance and monitoring of home security systems all over the globe. They have more than 60 offices worldwide, and are quickly establishing themselves as a true leader with stellar customer service and by being an innovator in the security system industry for both homes and businesses.

This is a company with a track record like no other. They offer a vast array of services and features that other big name companies do not. One of their big claims to fame is the ability to take care of all customer service needs in house. Installation, maintenance and monitoring is all done through certified Protection One security professionals, leaving little room for error.

The staff and the training that must be undergone before becoming a part of the protection one home security team is perhaps the most rigorous of any within the industry. Sales consultants, security installation technicians and the alarm monitoring professionals must all pass a background check and drug screening before being brought on board. In addition to this, there is a combination of instructional courses and requirements that must be met as well.

Sales consultants are required to fulfill a minimum of twenty hours of company sponsored training before they are allowed any unsupervised contact with a customer. In addition to this, these individuals routinely attend additional training in order to stay abreast of changes within the industry and of any advances in the technology. Unlike these certified individuals who can accurately explain the products that they hope to sell, many of Protection One’s competitors opt to hire individuals with sales training, but often none that is industry specific.

The installation technicians also fulfill a rigorous and comprehensive training schedule. Using computer-based classroom instruction in tandem with field instruction, the company instill their expectation for service and installation standards. Like the sales consultants, the learning is never done for the installation technicians. As new technologies are introduced, so is new Protection One training, in an effort to keep the entire team abreast of the most modern and efficient options that are available.

The training for the alarm monitoring professions exceeds all others. There are 120 hours of training that must be completed, as well as a series of drills and tests that must be passed before an individual is placed on the job. The trainees are confronted with a host of potential emergency situations and instructed on how to respond to a real call. This enables all of the service needs to be delivered directly through Protection One.

Potential consumers can get a clear idea of what their security needs may be without having to pay a dime. The company offers a free home security evaluation with a well-trained professional. Unlike many free offers, this one comes with a guarantee that the company will in no way share or lease any personal information that is provided in order to obtain the service.

The extensive training and the dedication to providing top quality service is perhaps why this industry leader has been named on the Forbes’ list of the nation’s most trusted companies. There is a large investment in creating stellar employees who are both well-equipped and eager to do good business. Protection One Home Security Company also boasts a huge commitment to maintaining the newest and best products that are available.

The GE 50246 Door Alarm Reviewed

In the past home security was only an issue for those living in, or around a major city. But for the past few decades things have been slowly getting more dangerous, and now it really doesn’t matter where you live, crime is an issue that we will all have to deal with eventually.Protecting your home does not always require you to spend thousands of dollars on a state of the art alarm system. For less than twenty dollars, the GE 50246 door alarm will provide you with more security than ninety five percent of your neighbors.

I am a big believer in the keep it simple philosophy, and this product suits me perfectly. The unit is powered by a single nine-volt battery, making it very convenient when compared to more expensive devices that require AC power.A single heavy duty battery should last you for many months in the armed mode unless the alarm is constantly being activated. This should not really be an issue, because this device will rarely sound a false alarm.

Most home security systems run on electricity, and even with a backup power supply, there is the risk of your alarm failing when your back up power supply fails. I am not going to tell you that this product will offer you more protection than a ADT monitored system. What i will say is that in addition to being a very solid security device on its own, it can definitely be used to augment your existing home security system.Even in a complete blackout, you will know with absolute certainty, if someone attempts to open a door protected by this device.

At first glance this device may resemble a door stop, that’s because it is.This unit when it is wedged under a door, protects it in two ways.First it prevents your door from being forced to open, by acting as a door brace. The second way your door is protected, is with a very loud siren. It is the combination of these two approaches to security that makes this device so powerful.

The one hundred and twenty decibel alarm is as loud as the front row of a heavy metal concert, and unless you are deaf, you will know the second that some one tampers with your door. The alarm function is not only intended to alert the occupants of the home, but your nearby neighbors as well. I know that a ringing alarm in my home will not bring my neighbors running to my aid, but in almost any neighborhood it will at least get them to look out of their windows in search of the cause of the disturbance.

The GE 50246 is a burglars worst nightmare, because it provides the homeowner with the element of surprise. The ideal working environment for a burglar, is in absolute silence, and complete darkness. Now imagine his surprise when he tries to open a door and is hit with a 120 decibel siren. If he has any sense he will run, because the only way to silence the alarm is to force the door open, and with the GE 50246 acting as a door brace, this will be a difficult and time consuming task.Keep in mind that while all of this is happening the person trying to break is also wondering if anyone has called the police.

When used as a door brace the protection offered by this device will depend upon the grip that the bottom of the unit makes with the flooring. In other words a high friction surface like cement will provide more stopping power that a smooth ceramic tile. That being said, it will still require some effort to force the door open no matter what kind of flooring the unit is placed on, and with the alarm screaming a burglar will find that the risk may not be worth the reward.

The fact that This device is wireless, and portable, gives the homeowner complete flexibility as far as where it can be deployed.I personally recommend using it to create a safe core within your home. I feel the most vulnerable when sleeping, so i alarm the door leading to my bedroom. My reasoning is that if the person breaking into my home has bypassed all of my other security measures, at least i know with complete certainty that if my bedroom door is tampered with, i will know about it.

If you cannot afford a professionally installed home security system, You most definitely can afford the GE 50246 door alarm. This device is simplicity itself, that is what makes it so good. The more complex you make a device the more chances you have for something to fail. When you take into consideration its cost of less than twenty dollars, and the level of protection it offers…this product is a must have.

We are constantly hearing of some crooked politician being caught on video by a spy camera or hidden camera, but do you really know what they actually are? For those who have been living in a cave for the past couple decades, this article will not only explain what these devices are, but how they can be incorporated into your current home security plan.

Spy cameras or hidden cameras are simply miniaturized surveillance cameras. They were originally designed, and used exclusively by intelligence agencies, and law enforcement, as an evidence gathering tool.

Most security experts will tell you that there is no such thing as a home security system that cannot be bypassed. If a burglar is skilled enough, and he wants what you have, he will find a way in.

The real power of a hidden camera,or spy camera, is not that they prevent these crimes,it is that they can provide video evidence that law enforcement needs.

Regular security cameras are great for deterring crime, but they have a glaring weakness, they are exposed.A burglar approaching a home knows automatically what areas are covered, and he can either avoid these areas, attempt to disable the camera system,or simply conceal his identity, and proceed with the break in.

When utilized properly a spy camera can add extra layer of protection to your home. But the question is how best to use these devices.

There are dozens of points around your home that a skilled burglar can enter through, but unless they are breaking into your home for the fun of it, they are heading to one of two locations. Either the master bedroom, because this is where the owners usually keep the cash and jewelry, or the living room, because of the high value electronics. So we position these cameras in the hallways leading to these rooms, or in the room themselves.

With the wide variety of enclosures for these cameras, finding one that blends into your homes decor will not be a problem. If you look around your home right now, there is nothing that cannot be made into a covert camera. They can be placed into ordinary objects around the home including things like plants, smoke detectors, clock radios, stuffed teddies, even a functioning television . The fact that these cameras can be placed into so many ordinary items, means that you have unlimited options as far as positioning your surveillance cameras.

These cameras can also be useful in households that employ a child care provider.Due to the concerns of many working professionals,Nanny cameras were created. Fundamentally they are not different from spy cameras…actually it is the very same product being marketed to a different customer base.

Every parent will have concerns about leaving their child in the care of a nanny. They would like to be certain that this person is giving the same level of care that they would give, if the parent were present. You could ask the caregiver, and take them at their word, or set up a nanny cam, and find out for yourself.

All of these camera systems can be found in both wireless, and hard wired configurations. The wireless hidden camera models are the simplest to set up, but there is a potential problem that you should be aware of. You need to ask the if the video signal from your particular camera is encrypted, or broadcasts on a secure frequency. The low end models usually offer no protection, and will broadcast a live show from your home to any nearby neighbor that wants to tune in and watch.
The hardwired systems may be a little more work to set up initially, but the signal is also secure.

Although very useful for legitimate security reasons, there are people who use these cameras to spy on unsuspecting guests in their home.I am not a lawyer, but my simple advice is not to place a hidden camera anywhere on your property that a visitor would have a reasonable expectation of privacy. This means that bathrooms are out of the question, as are bedrooms.I would feel OK placing it in my infants room, because i believe that safety issue, is greater than the privacy issue in this circumstance.

Hidden cameras will make a great addition to the safety, and security of your family. They are available for every budget, and come disguised as everything from a flower pot, to a working flat screen television. They can be used for every thing from hardening your homes security,to child safety. You are bound to find a use for these devices in your home…you are only limited by your imagination.
