Why You Need The Master Lock 5400D Key Storage Box

If you want to limit the persons that have access to your home, the Master Lock 5400D Select Access Key Storage Box is often a good choice. Whether allowing Realtor s to show your home, giving access to vacation rentals or preventing lock out from your own home, the box keeps a key secure for use by those who need access. It might even be useful to keep a spare vehicle key secure.

The shank of the key box is made to fit around a standard doorknob. It could be locked around many other secure metal parts of a home or vehicle. For more permanent installation, Master Lock makes a similar device that can be secured to the home using screws.

Master Lock lets you choose the combination for the lock. If you have more than one property, you might want to set all to the same combination. If the security of the box is breached, the combination can be changed easily to keep your home secure.

If others need access to your home and you cannot be there, the key box is an ideal option. Realtors often use these lock boxes to allow showing of properties by other realtors. There is no need for the owner to be at home for the showing. The key can also be used by inspectors than must have access to the home to close the deal. It can also provide access for those that need to make repairs to close the deal.

With vacation properties, installing a key box means that the owners do not have to meet the renters each week to supply a key. Simply give the new renters the combination once they have completed their contract and payment has been completed. The can arrive at their leisure and you can be busy with other tasks.

Anyone that has ever locked themselves out of their own home will know how valuable a lock box can be. If you have teens that seem to be unable to keep up with a key, the combination box can allow them in the home when school is out. The cost of a box is only a fraction of the cost of one visit from a locksmith. It offers much greater security than hiding a key under a rock or doormat.

The lock box could even be used to store a auto key for quick access. Since it is not waterproof, the box should probably be attached to the vehicle when you arrive at your destination. It would be a great solution for keeping everything secure while at the beach with no fear of losing the keys. If attached to the vehicle while driving, you should install the box somewhere that it is not going to be exposed to water or excess heat from the motor or exhaust.

A Master Lock 5400D Select Access Key Storage Box can be used to give access to authorized persons when you cannot be at the home. The combination can be changed as necessary. It offers affordable security for your home.

Guard against burglars and thieves with a SentrySafe X055 Security Safe. Give yourself peace-of-mind, knowing that your valuable and sentimental articles are protected.

Unfortunately, the economic recession has brought more than just lost fortunes — it has brought desperation into many people’s lives. Desperation leads people to do terrible things, and has led to an increase in burglaries in recent years. Many of us know someone who has had something stolen, and the effect that can have on their life.

The X055 is the perfect size for smaller items: jewelry, photographs, memory cards, CDs or important documents. Its interior measures 8.5″ x 13.6″ x 8.7″ (height x width x depth), equivalent to 1/2 cubic feet capacity. It is small enough to be easily concealed, yet large enough to store your smaller items. Its floor is carpeted to protect your delicate valuables from scratches, yet its solid-steel structure is strong enough to resist persistent thieves. It also includes the mounting hardware necessary to attach it to a floor or other solid structure.

The hardened steel lock plate protects the electronic lock from tampering, resisting drilling or prying. It has a pair of live-locking bolts, and its door has concealed hinges and is pry-resistant. It comes with two keys, which can override the electronic lock in case the batteries are worn-down or you forget the code. Its electronic lock is programmable with a code of 2-8 digits, with three LEDs to indicate status.

Choosing a code is the first step setting-up your safe. The code you choose should be something you can remember, but it shouldn’t be a number anyone else would know (birthday or anniversary). Sequences of numbers should also be avoided (1234 or 9876). Your safe should be mounted securely (using the included hardware) to prevent a would-be thief from taking your safe to open at his leisure. Suitable surfaces would be the floor or a heavy piece of furniture. It could even be attached to a wall, but you should be sure to secure it to a stud (not the drywall or plaster).

Also important is your safe’s location. Your safe should not be the talk of the neighborhood, proudly displayed on the coffee table. It should be concealed out of the way. Good places include basements, attics, closets, or inside of cabinets. It could also be attached to a heavy desk or table that is unlikely to be removed by a single burglar.

The two keys also deserve great consideration. They should not be in an obvious place (like a key-ring) or even in the same room as the safe. It’s worth considering putting one of the keys in a safe-deposit box. The other should be hidden on an overhang, in a cookie jar or in the sugar container. Someplace no one would think to look (except you, of course).

Your SentrySafe X055 Security Safe can help to put you at ease, knowing your personal and valuable articles and heirlooms are protected. (The preceding suggestions are by no means complete, and no safe can provide 100% security)

Why Lock Bumping Should Scare You

If you have the average locks on your doors and you are sure that you are safe inside when they are locked, you may want to think again. An experienced lock bumper can open the average door with ease if they have a bump key. While this is a frightening thought, there some steps you can take to prevent lock bumping.

Using bump keys to open a lock is easy. The available information to make your own keys like this is online and anyone can do it. A video is even out that shows you how to make these keys. This is the biggest reason you need to protect your home and security from those who can take a file and make a key to fit into any door lock.

If your doors have standard locks, then you could fall victim to someone with a bump key. These are the locks that are easiest to open with a key made for bumping. If you do have these kinds of locks, then you need to install higher security locks. Electronic choices in locks are the best to prevent locks being opened by the wrong people.

Visit a locksmith to learn the kinds of locks you could have installed to prevent unlawful entry. A professional like this would be able to give you many tips about how you can prevent someone from using a bump key to get into your house. You can also get locks with a locksmith that are not easy prey to a bump key.

You can also lower your chances of someone getting inside your house with a few other protective measures. The lighting outside your home is important to deterring unwanted visitors who may be carrying around a bump key. Check into the kinds of security lights you can have installed that come on automatically.

Do you have a security system? If not, it would be in your best interests to see about having one installed. Placing the signs for your security service in your windows and yard is also a great way to make a burglar think twice about breaking into your home. Always place these kinds of signs in visible places.

Dogs are one the greatest kinds of indoor protection you could have. The reason for this is when a big dog barks, it can be intimidating. It may even intimidate someone enough for them to decide against trying to get around that big dog to get in. If for some reason you aren’t able to own a big dog, then you should get a motion sensor recording of a deep and loud barking dog.

Lock bumping has become a trend. More and more homes are being burglarized due to simply being able to open the door. The best defense a homeowner can have against these burglars is to have knowledge about it and to utilize the ways of protecting your home. Making sure that your home is as safe as possible from intruders is the biggest way to protect you and your family.
