Review of The Home Security Alarm System With Phone Dialer By Streetwise

A home security alarm system , a good deadbolt lock set, and proper exterior lighting ,the absolute trinity of crime prevention. But if you are a home owner or apartment dweller working with a limited budget, which one of these should you spend your money on.

I am of the belief that any plans relating to the protection of your home should start with some sort of alarm system, and if money is an issue you need to look at something like the home security system being offered by Streetwise products.

The product being reviewed is produced by Streetwise products.A manufacturer of a wide variety of cleverly designed, and effective security products. They produce everything from self defense items like stun guns, to diversion safes.

Costing less than thirty dollars, and the fact that it can be installed in a few minutes , the home security alarm system with phone dialer by streetwise erases two of the main excuses homeowners give for not having any sort of burglary protection for their homes. Specifically the cost involved and the difficulty of installation.

Why is this product such a good buy

The first obvious selling point of this device is the price. At around thirty dollars you can easily protect an area twenty feet horizontally by about twenty vertically. For most home owners this means you can only cover one entry point with this device, and may need to purchase more than one unit to properly secure your property.

If you live in an apartment or condominium, you will only need a single device, and it will be some of the best money you will ever spend.

The features that make this device a stand out from the crowd are the three number auto dialer, the ability to switch between silent mode, and a ear splitting 125 decibel alarm, and finally the fact that it is battery operated, and it offers truly goof proof installation.

Super easy to setup and operate

If you cannot install or operate a home security device it is worthless, no matter what you paid for it. Installation in this case is a simple three step process. First install the batteries, next position the motion detector in the area that will be alarmed, and finally plug the unit into a spare telephone jack.

The final step is really only necessary if you intend to use the alarms auto-dial feature, otherwise you can simply mount the unit were needed.

A call for help

If your alarm system is tripped and no one knows about it other than the burglar…what is the point. This home security system comes with a three number auto-dialer, that can call your cell phone , along with two other numbers of your choosing.

This feature is important because most of us have become desensitized to alarms. Having the ability to be notified via cell phone allows you to have someone actually go and investigate the cause of the alarm for you.

Silent or audible alarm function

Having a 125 decibel alarm is great, but there may be times that you may not want to alert your visitor to the fact that they have tripped your alarm.

Depending on how isolated your home is in relation to your neighbors, a screaming alarm may be useless. The alarm for this device is loud, but this diminishes with every step you take away from your property, and if you live in a rural location it may be more of a nuisance to a burglar than an actual deterrent .

It may actually make more sense to have the alarm set to silent mode, and have it dial a trusted neighbor and have them investigate the alarm for you, and notify the authorities if needed. This increases the chances of the burglar being caught because since no siren was sounded your burglar may spend more time on the property, increasing the chances of him being caught.

A small weakness

The only negative that i can think is the fact that this security alarm looks just like what it is. Earlier i mentioned the fact that this alarm can be installed in minutes, and is battery operated. My fear is that it may be a little too conspicuous in design ,and a smart burglar who has cased my property and recognizes this device will know that all he needs to do to disarm it is too remove the batteries and unplug the auto dialer.

Maybe i am being a pessimist but i feel the the manufacturer may want to consider redesigning the housing for the unit to look like something a little more benign. All things considered the benefits that this product offers in the way of protection greatly outweighs any of its potential weaknesses.

Review of The Wireless Home Security System By Mace

The alarm monitoring industry is huge. We have all seen those commercials by ADT showing a home invasion being thwarted by their home security system. But what about the segment of the market that does not want to, or cannot pay that monthly monitoring fee…how do they go about protecting their homes or apartments.

Introducing the Wireless Home Security System By Mace. The market is flooded with wireless home security products that claim to offer similar protection to that offered by ADT or Broadview security, very few even come close.

This particular wireless home security product is the creation of Mace products .They specialize in affordable, but effective security and safety related products…everything from door braces with sirens to motion activated security lights.

What this product offers the homeowner or apartment dweller,is a bare bones entry level system consisting of a base unit, one hand-held remote control,a motion sensor and a magnetic contact.

I am not going to tell you that this hundred dollar system will protect you as well as a professionally installed system. What i will tell you is that if for what ever reason you have nothing installed, then this product is a very good start, and in all honesty you will probably be better protected than the majority of your neighbors.

Other than its low purchase price there are three main features that make this device extremely popular with homeowners who have installed it.

First it is Wireless and therefore setup is a breeze. It also has a built in phone dialer to notify the owner of any alarm activations. Finally it comes with a hand held remote with panic button, that allows you to control your system from just about anywhere within your home or apartment.

Simple wireless installation

The one aspect of a hardwired security system that drives up the cost, and difficulty of installation, are the wires and cables that connect the various components.Installation of this product is a snap because it is wireless, and you are really only limited by the location of a power source for the control module. Once you have the base module set up your only other real concern will be making sure that the sensor modules are within range of the controller, the rest of the installation is a breeze.

Automated phone dialer

Wouldn’t it be great if your alarm system were able to dial you in the event of an alarm activation.Well guess what…it can. This product can dial up two 5 preset numbers of your choosing, in the event of an alarm event. If you so chose you could have it call you on your cell phone, and you could then in turn call a neighbor to check and make sure everything is OK. It is almost like having a do it your self alarm monitoring service.

Your very own panic button

I love the hand-held control unit, with the panic alarm feature that comes with this system. If you are laying in bed, and unsure of whether or not the alarm has been set, you can easily verify by using the remote, without having to get up and walk to the key-pad. This may sound trivial, but when you are as lazy as i am, it will definitely come in handy.

The fly in the ointment

If you were expecting a siren that will have all of your neighbors standing on their front lawns, ready to rush to your rescue , you may be a little disappointed. While the alarm siren is definitely loud enough to dissuade just about any burglar of average intelligence, it simply is not loud enough to be heard from more than one house away, and that is being generous.

If you are looking for something that can be heard by your neighbors, it will definitely cost you more than what this product is being offered for, and it will require an exterior mounted siren.

If you own a average sized home , you may not want to use this product as it is configured out of the box, as it only comes with one magnetic contact sensor and one motion detector.

This is simply not enough coverage for the average sized home.To adequately protect your property you will absolutely have to purchase more door contacts, and motion detectors…luckily this system is modular and upgrading it is not an issue.

If however you are a apartment dweller this wireless system is the perfect choice. most average sized apartments only have one door and a set of windows in the living room…which is a perfect fit for this system. Whatever you decide just know that having some security is better than having absolutely nothing.

The U.S. Patrol Door Alarm Security Bar Reviewed

The home security product marketplace is constantly changing. New services and products are appearing everyday. Some of these products have been well received by home owners because they offer real protection.Every so often i come across one or two products that i feel offer exceptional performance, excellent quality as well as a reasonable price. Among the more outstanding current products on the market is u.s. patrol door alarm security bar.

One of the current industry leaders, and the manufacturer of this highly rated door alarm, is u.s. Patrol. A well respected producer of security related products.

The u.s. patrol door alarm security bar provides to homeowners is a way of easily securing one a burglars main points of entry into your home…your exterior door.

This product offering comes with some very unique features that will provide the customer with real value and should definitely be considering when looking for a way to protect your home and property. Besides being a door brace, this product also comes with a motion activated alarm.

As soon as any pressure is put on the door the simulated dog bark alarm will sound.Installation is also foolproof, all that is required is the ability to install a 9 volt battery, and being able to locate your doorknob…it doesn’t get any easier. Another selling point is that the door security bar is constructed of a really strong steel alloy, and is adjustable to fit just about any door.

My top three reasons for recommending the u.s patrol door alarm security bar are listed below

Effective door brace

If this product was offered as simply a door brace, it would be a recommended , but it is augmented with an alarm function that makes the unit much more effective. A burglar attempting to break into your home now has two issues to deal with…the first being that the door is jammed shut, and the second problem being the alarm that is sounding. A smart thief will simply look for a easier target.

Ease of use

The most expensive home security product on the market is completely useless to you if you cannot set it up properly, or if it is difficult to operate. You will not have that problem. All that is required to make this product operable, is to install the batteries for the alarm, and to remember to place it between your doorknob and the floor. Even if you forgot to set the alarm function, the noise that a burglar would be required to make just to open the door should alert all but the heaviest sleepers.

Can be taken with you

unlike hardwired solutions that cannot be moved once installed, this product can be moved to any door that needs the protection, and is adjustable to fit just about any door. This means when you are traveling ,visiting relatives, or move , you can bring this protection with you.

The only real the only real weakness of the u.s. patrol door alarm security bar setup that i can think of, is the alarm possibly not being loud enough, and the electronic barking dog sounding a little to electronic. I am going to overlook this minor weakness because as far as i am concerned the primary function of this product is as a door brace, and it does an excellent job .

Protecting your home does not have to be an expensive proposition. The purchase of something as inexpensive as this product offering can mean a vast improvement to the security and safety of your home. With the u.s. patrol door alarm security bar you will not have to spend a fortune to protect your family.

Turn Your Webcam Into A Home Security System

It seems that just about every home in America has a computer, most with web cams. It is strange that a homeowner would spend a thousand dollars on a personal computer, but absolutely nothing on home security to protect it.I am not going to preach the gospel according to ADT,but if you have high value electronic items in your home you need some sort of protection.
There is currently software on the market that will allow you to turn your Web Cam into a very effective home security system.

Motion detector

The backbone of most home security systems is the motion detector.Your web cam handles this function by monitoring the area looking for pixel changes. What does this really mean? When you take a digital picture you are actually looking at millions of individual pixels.

Video motion detection works by continuously looking for movement amongst these pixels. This system is very sensitive which is a good thing, but this can also lead to false alarms unless precautions are taken.

Preventing false alarms

Upon coming home one day i noticed my computer had a motion alert waiting for me to view . My heart was pounding because i knew someone must have been my apartment. I opened my picture file and came face to face with my intruder…the infamous Mr sunshine.

Apparently the pattern the morning sun made as it came through my window was enough to trip the alarm. In order to avoid wasting hard-drive space recording the sun rising,or your drapes fluttering, you need to use the masking feature that comes with your software. In my case the only way into the room being monitored was a door and a window.

Since the window was going to be a problem, i simply told the camera to disregard any movement in the room except for the door area. This move totally eliminated the false alarms and it recorded anyone that came through the door. Even if someone came in through my window, they would still need to walk past the door at some point.

Internet Monitoring

There was a news story recently of a home owner using one of the many variants of this system to capture a burglar in his home. basically he received an email from his web cam showing an intruder in his home.

he promptly called 911 and they responded in time to capture the suspect. Working on the assumption that a burglar spends ten minutes in a home. There is a very good possibility that if you can contact the police as soon as you recieve the alert they may be apprehended. Even if they are not, you still have their face on camera.

Smile for the camera

Most people use this system to record the crime happening, but a good security system should first try to deter. You have the capability of having a audio file play automatically when motion is detected.

You could possibly play a prerecorded message warning that the area is under surveillance.Either he will leave the way he came, or he will look for the source of the recording.

If he is looking in the general direction of your computer speakers this means that he is looking directly at the camera. At this point even if he took the computer with him , video footage of his face, will be stored in your email in box, as an attachment.

Not so hidden camera

If you ever wondered what your kids are up to when you are not there ,this software has got you covered.

once installed on your computer it can be password protected, and placed in silent record mode. What this means is that once activated you can covertly record all the activity going on in front of the camera. Even someone using the computer would have no idea that they were being recorded.

The only thing that may give it away would be the red indicator light, but it can be disabled very easily.

For less than fifty dollars you can create a very effective video security system using only your home computer, web cam , and a internet connection.

Home Security Advice For The Professional Burglar

The home security industry sells a billions of dollars worth of products and services every year.Everything from thermal security cameras costing tens of thousands of dollars, to imitation models costing only ten. But what products are really effective when it comes to deterring a skilled burglar. Most products on the market today are geared toward defending against the amateur criminals, and this makes perfect sense since they commit the majority of property crimes. But what about the professionals.

Amateur criminals

The first question you need to ask yourself is whether your home is more likely to be targeted by a professional burglar or an armature, and just what is the difference. Amateur burglars are for the most part untrained and impulsive. They choose their targets based on gut instinct and tend to be opportunistic .The techniques used during a break ins are rarely ever subtle.Tactics like lock picking , or alarm bypassing are almost never used. These are the people that the majority of home security products are designed to stop.

The Pro

A professional can be recognized by at least two traits. Their meticulous planning, and skillful execution. These guys will do reconnaissance on a target for weeks, until they know more about the home and the routine of its owner than the owners themselves.
Things like the model of the alarm system installed, the extent and location of its zones, even what time the homeowner has dinner, and goes to bed are all documented.
When they do break in they do so knowing with absolute certainty that they can circumvent the particular alarm system that is installed, and open the exact model door lock, because it has all been researched ahead of time. Dealing with this type of criminal will require a different approach

Covert security

stopping a skilled burglar cannot be done by using standard devices and techniques alone.I once had to call a locksmith to my home and was shocked at how fast he was able to open my supposedly high security door lock. Most of the advanced techniques used by burglars are actually skills used by legitimate alarm technicians and locksmiths, but used in a criminal way.

The only real way to defend against someone with this type of technical savvy is to hide the true nature and extent of your home security system. Most devices like motion detectors, glass break detectors, and magnetic contacts, are available in a low profile or discrete configurations.A burglar that is looking at your property as a potential target, will be looking for these devices. If they cannot be located then they cannot be defeated.

Hidden cameras

As great as home security cameras are they are of little use against a skilled criminal.when your home is first being given the once over, your camera system will be the first thing they take note of.What is the coverage area, are there any blind spots…etc.

Once a burglar is aware of your camera set up, he simply has to avoid the area that is covered, or if the area cannot be avoided, take steps to conceal his identity.Unless your camera system is being monitored live,There only real purpose will be to act as an deterrent.

If it is your intent to capture your burglars face on video, a hidden camera may be better suited for this.

Dogs

A loud barking dog is a potential burglars worst enemy, but not for the reason most people believe. There are very few dogs that can be labeled as man stoppers, meaning they posses the size and tenacity to stop an aggressive assailant. This is actually a good thing because having an animal that dangerous on your property is a lawsuit or tragedy waiting to happen.

What you really need is a dog that is all bark with very little bite. The last thing a burglar wants is to have your dog barking his head off and attracting attention.

The battle against a skilled burglar will not be won by using the latest home security equipment. It will take the ability to see your home the way a criminal sees it, and anticipate his moves.

Safety And Security Advice For latchkey kids

We would all love to be around to supervise our kids 24/7, but the reality is that most homes need both parents working to support it. At some point your job will require you to work unexpected overtime, how do you insure the safety of your children when you are not there to supervise them.If you have a neighbor, or babysitter willing to help out at a moments notice, you have nothing to worry about. But you should still have a back up plan just in case.

How young is too young
The law varies from state to state regarding how old a child must be before they can be left unsupervised. It varies from as young as eight years old, and can go up to fourteen, however most experts believe that the minimum age should be twelve.

Before you even consider leaving your child unsupervised, make sure that you check your state laws first. Just because you feel your kid is mature enough, doesn’t mean your state will agree.

Childproof your home
Before even considering leaving a child unsupervised you as a responsible parent must make sure that your home is as safe as you can make it.First on my list are firearms. If you own a gun, it should be locked away in a gun safe…end of story no discussion.there is no place in your home that you could hide a gun that your child will not find it. All other childproofing tips are really only basic safety tips.Things like having a working smoke detector, fire extinguisher…etc.

emergency contact numbers

As anyone who has ever been in a crisis situation will tell you, your memory will sometimes fail you.I have seen adults forget their own telephone number when rattled… a scared child will definitely not do much better. You need to have an emergency contact list posted in a central location, that contains not only your contact phone numbers, but the address and telephone numbers of multiple other trusted adults, that can be called in the event of an emergency. If for whatever reason you are not reachable by phone, your kids should have other adults they can reach out to for help.

Establishing Rules

Maybe it is because of the boredom, or it could just be the thrill of not having a parent around, but kids will do some really outrageously creative things when left unsupervised. This is why we need to create a list what is, and is not allowed.

Things like not opening the door for strangers ,or mentioning to a stranger on the phone that no adult is at home, Inviting friends over, using the oven or stove, leaving the house etc. This list could go on for ever. The very fact that you are leaving your kids unsupervised shows you trust their judgment, but if you feel that you need to mention on this list that putting the cat in the washing machine is not allowed…maybe they should not be left alone.

Use your home security system

There are many home security systems currently on the market that have a remote access feature. This allows the system to be monitored, and controlled by the user from any computer with a internet access. it would be possible to place the system in the home mode, which means that the perimeter alarms , such as the doors and windows are active, but the interior alarms are off. Using this set up, you will know immediately if anyone attempts to enter, or leave the home.
If your home has home security cameras that are internet capable, they can also be used to keep an eye on things around the home. You could simply dial in and see for yourself that things are normal in the home.

Leaving your kids home alone does not have to end up like the plot of a Hollywood movie .It can be a great way of teaching your children independence and responsibility .All that is needed to make this experience safe, is a little advanced planning.

Million Dollar Home Security Systems

We have all dreamed of being rich, and famous, but how do these people protect their homes.
How does the home security system of a millionaire differ from that of a middle class family.
Having the level of wealth we are talking about automatically means that you are going to attract a more skilled professional criminal.

To protect their property the owners of these homes use cutting edge technology like, buried cable intrusion detectors, thermal security cameras, security doors, even panic rooms, in order to protect themselves.

Perimeter intrusion detection

A good security system should be constructed with layers of protection. This first layer starts at the perimeter of the property, and it is the first opportunity to detect an intruder. One product currently being used in high value homes is the Perimitrax buried cable intrusion detector.

This is a special buried cable that is run along the perimeter of your property.Once operational, anything with a mass of sixty pounds or more, that walks over it will activate an alarm. This product is almost impossible for a burglar to defeat, because it is invisible.

Professional burglars are rarely ever caught by visible security measures. It is almost always the covert devices that trip these guys. If they cant see the hardware, there is nothing for them to bypass, or disable.

Thermal security cameras

Security cameras come in many flavors, but they all have a weakness that becomes evident when the sun goes down. These cameras require abundant light in order to operate at their peak. The problem is that many burglars do their best work when the sun goes down.

Thermal security cameras like those offered by FLIR , see the heat generated by your body. There is absolutely no way for a burglar to use darkness to hide from these cameras. Actually these cameras are more effective at night, because of the increased temperature difference between a warm body and the night time air.

High security doors

The measure of any piece of home security hardware is how long it can delay an intruder.Your average door is made out of wood, and is secured in its frame by the hinges on one side, and a deadbolt on the other. This can be defeated in a matter of minutes using just a crowbar.

A security door is normally made out of a steel alloy, and is secured in its frame by upwards of fifteen locking deadbolts. When properly installed these doors are almost impenetrable.
A skilled burglar with the right tools could force one of these doors after an hour long battle. But it will be noisy, they will simply not take the risk.
Not only can these doors be used on the exterior, but they are also very effective when used as interior doors.

Don’t panic

There is the possibility that all of these high tech security measures may fail you.It is at this moment that you shift your mindset from that of protecting your property, to that of protecting your life. A panic room or Safe Room , is nothing more than a fortified structure within the home, were the homeowner can retreat to safety. These rooms can range in cost from ten thousand, all the way up to a million dollars.

The cost of building a panic room will be determined by three main factors. The first is the size of the room, the second is its ability to resist a forced entry. The third variable will be the luxury items, such as lavatory, bedding, cappuccino machine..the basics.

The average police response time may be as much as thirty minutes. This means that a panic room needs to be able to keep those inside protected from attack, for at least this long.

Super size it please

For the most part, a high end security system will use the same basic components that your average homeowner would. The only difference being the amount and quality of the components. The average home has maybe six magnetic contacts, a motion detector, and a glass break detector.

A mansion could conceivably have 100 points of protection. This is partially do to the increased size of the structure, but mainly it comes down to money. The owners of these properties can afford to alarm the entire structure, not just the main floor.

Being wealthy anywhere in the world, come with certain dangers. There will always be those that want what you have, and will do whatever it takes to separate you from it. Luckily being rich also means that you can afford to do what it takes to protect yourself.

The AAS 600 Wireless Home Security System Reviewed

The AAS 600 wireless home security system is an outstanding alternative to a traditional hard wired monitored alarm. You will not be required to pay costly recurring monthly fees like like those charged by ADT, or Broadview, in order to feel safe in your home. This product has consistently received high praise from its loyal customers. There have been hundreds of positive reviews, but they all seem to be saying the same thing. That this product will provide all the protection your home needs, for a fraction of the cost of those costly traditional systems.

Choosing the right wireless security system is a simple two step process.First you need to determine the level of security that your home is going to require. This means taking into account the size of your property, the crime rate in your neighborhood, and even any particularly expensive possessions you may own. The second step to this process will be to find a security system that meets your needs without being overkill. It may sound easy, but having to wade through all of the different options and products on the market today, can be a bit overwhelming. However if you are like most homeowners, you may just need to be notified in the event of an alarm activation, and will not need a centrally monitored system. If so,the AAS 600 is the right product for you. This system features an automatic notification function that will call you, or any number that you choose,in the event of an alarm activation. You won’t get this feature with a traditional hard wired system unless you purchase an additional auto dialer unit, which will add to its cost.

This product comes with some realy cool features, like the Two way voice communication,a remote control, and the cutting edge rolling code technology. All with no added costs. These features are normally optional upgrades on a traditional system. I did notice one a short-coming with this product. It is a closed system ,meaning that you are required to use the components designed specifically for it.I am not saying that it is not expandable…it is,but you have to use their components. Other systems currently on the market allow for a lot more flexibility. These other products are designed so that you can use equipment from other manufacturers, and in some cases they even support wireless integration which allows you to customize using wireless devices.

The first step in designing your perfect home security system will be to figure out what is needed to protect the perimeter of the home. This will usually mean magnetic contact alarms on all of the exterior doors, and your main floor windows as well. Once you have determined and implemented your basic perimeter defense plan.We now need to install devices that will back up your homes primary defense, this means motion detectors, and glass break detectors. There are professional burglars that know not to open a window, because it may be protected by an unseen contact alarm. So they will break the window instead and climb through. The backup to your window alarm in this case would be a glass break detector, or possibly a motion detector.Glass break detectors work by monitoring the protected area for the specific sound that broken glass makes.

The motion detectors should be placed in your homes common areas, like the family room, or main hallways where people have to walk. We place these devices in common areas because while we may not know with certainty where a burglar may go once in your home, we know he has to use a hallway or stairs to get there . Glass break detectors, along with motion detectors can also be used to cover the large expanses of glass normally found in the living room or kitchen area. When positioning your motion detectors, try to be as discreet as possible. When you are hardening your home against a more skilled burglar, you cannot show your hand. You have to always keep him guessing about the layout of your security system. I like to place my motion detectors right above the entrance to a room. This way you have to actually enter the protected area, before you even notice it.

The tactic of having the two layers of protection is not really my creation, it is used by security system installers everywhere, because it works. There are even some that ad a third and fourth layer to their systems, by including covert surveillance devices. The most important thing to remember is that when securing your home, you have home field advantage, use it. If done properly there is no way for an intruder to know the exact layout of your security system.

If you are going to allow your pets to roam freely in the house you are going to have to invest in pet immune motion detectors. This new technology takes into account the size of the object.Small objects such as a cats or dogs that weigh less 50 pounds will not set off an alarm. Before this technology came out, pet owners were plagued by false alarms, due to their pets. Now we can alarm the interior of our homes at night, and still allow the family pet freedom to roam.

The AAS 600 wireless system comes configured with 32 alarm zones with tree sensors in each zone. If needed the system can easily be expanded to include 96 sensors. It comes with some of the features that you would only expect to find on professionally installed systems. Things like rolling code technology,a silent alarm feature, you can even be alerted if someone tries to cut your phone line. There is nothing currently on the market, at this price, than has what this system has to offer. When you take all this into account, including that there is no monthly fee…it gets two thumbs up.

The GE 50246 Door Alarm Reviewed

In the past home security was only an issue for those living in, or around a major city. But for the past few decades things have been slowly getting more dangerous, and now it really doesn’t matter where you live, crime is an issue that we will all have to deal with eventually.Protecting your home does not always require you to spend thousands of dollars on a state of the art alarm system. For less than twenty dollars, the GE 50246 door alarm will provide you with more security than ninety five percent of your neighbors.

I am a big believer in the keep it simple philosophy, and this product suits me perfectly. The unit is powered by a single nine-volt battery, making it very convenient when compared to more expensive devices that require AC power.A single heavy duty battery should last you for many months in the armed mode unless the alarm is constantly being activated. This should not really be an issue, because this device will rarely sound a false alarm.

Most home security systems run on electricity, and even with a backup power supply, there is the risk of your alarm failing when your back up power supply fails. I am not going to tell you that this product will offer you more protection than a ADT monitored system. What i will say is that in addition to being a very solid security device on its own, it can definitely be used to augment your existing home security system.Even in a complete blackout, you will know with absolute certainty, if someone attempts to open a door protected by this device.

At first glance this device may resemble a door stop, that’s because it is.This unit when it is wedged under a door, protects it in two ways.First it prevents your door from being forced to open, by acting as a door brace. The second way your door is protected, is with a very loud siren. It is the combination of these two approaches to security that makes this device so powerful.

The one hundred and twenty decibel alarm is as loud as the front row of a heavy metal concert, and unless you are deaf, you will know the second that some one tampers with your door. The alarm function is not only intended to alert the occupants of the home, but your nearby neighbors as well. I know that a ringing alarm in my home will not bring my neighbors running to my aid, but in almost any neighborhood it will at least get them to look out of their windows in search of the cause of the disturbance.

The GE 50246 is a burglars worst nightmare, because it provides the homeowner with the element of surprise. The ideal working environment for a burglar, is in absolute silence, and complete darkness. Now imagine his surprise when he tries to open a door and is hit with a 120 decibel siren. If he has any sense he will run, because the only way to silence the alarm is to force the door open, and with the GE 50246 acting as a door brace, this will be a difficult and time consuming task.Keep in mind that while all of this is happening the person trying to break is also wondering if anyone has called the police.

When used as a door brace the protection offered by this device will depend upon the grip that the bottom of the unit makes with the flooring. In other words a high friction surface like cement will provide more stopping power that a smooth ceramic tile. That being said, it will still require some effort to force the door open no matter what kind of flooring the unit is placed on, and with the alarm screaming a burglar will find that the risk may not be worth the reward.

The fact that This device is wireless, and portable, gives the homeowner complete flexibility as far as where it can be deployed.I personally recommend using it to create a safe core within your home. I feel the most vulnerable when sleeping, so i alarm the door leading to my bedroom. My reasoning is that if the person breaking into my home has bypassed all of my other security measures, at least i know with complete certainty that if my bedroom door is tampered with, i will know about it.

If you cannot afford a professionally installed home security system, You most definitely can afford the GE 50246 door alarm. This device is simplicity itself, that is what makes it so good. The more complex you make a device the more chances you have for something to fail. When you take into consideration its cost of less than twenty dollars, and the level of protection it offers…this product is a must have.

The Top Rated Skylink SC-100 Home Security System

Most homeowners who actually take the time to look at the home they live in, find that their security is seriously lacking. You may have though of adding a layer of protection to your home by having a home security system installed. But after learning how much it would cost to install and maintain you quickly became discouraged and decided that it was beyond your means to have this level of protection for your family. If this describes your situation, you may want to consider the Skylink SC-100 home security system.

One of the primary reasons for my purchasing the Skylink SC-100 is that it is very easy to install.Rather than having to pay a professional installer to set up the security system ,the homeowner can easily do this on their own.By installing The system on your own,you gain intimate knowledge about its operations. You will know about all the ins and outs of how the system functions and where exactly each sensor is located and the exact area it covers.

Another strong selling point of the SC-100 is that it is a wireless system.Traditionally the most expensive part of installing a home security system is the running of the wiring that connects the components together. It always involves drilling holes in walls, and you also have to be constantly aware of the homes existing electrical wiring in order to avoid a disaster. That is why these installations are done by professionals, and rightly so. But with a wireless home security system you have removed the part of the installation that should be carried out by a professional, and are left with the portion that can be done safely and easily by your average homeowner.

We all know that things are always changing ,well guess what, the SC-100 is designed to change with you. Another great feature of this system is that it is expandable. The base monitoring station can accommodate up to thirty more alarm sensors. What this means is that as your financial situation allows for it, you can increase the coverage of your home to include more alarm points around your home. Or if you decide to move to a larger home, you can take the basic kit with you, and ad more sensors to cover the larger structure.

Defending against professional burglars with rolling code technology. Most low, to mid priced home security systems are really only designed to stop amateur burglars , but the Skylink SC-100 can protect you against the professionals, with its rolling code technology. Normally the user codes for alarms are static, you pick one that is easy to remember, and you move on. But there are technology savvy burglars that can hack your system for the password, and once they have this, they have the key to your home.Rolling codes defeat this by changing every time it is used. It is like having a front door with a lock designed to accept five million unique keys, but the key that opens your door right now is not the same that will open it two minutes from now.

There will be times during an emergency when you will want to have your alarm automatically dial 911. However, this usually means paying a monthly fee to a monitoring company. The SC-100 can be intergrated with your dial alert system, and can call any of the pre -programmed numbers you choose. This is a great because as anyone who has ever been through a real emergency knows, when your adrenilane kicks in,and you develop tunnel vision, something as basic as calling 911, sometimes gets overlooked during those first few frantic moments.

For first time users an alarm key pad can be nerve racking. Even though most alarm interfaces are really simple, once you get used to them, they can be confusing to first timers because of the way this simple information is presented. Rather than spending your day off trying to enter users codes, this system just requires that the preset pin number be entered for it to be armed or disarmed…it really is that easy.

Protecting ones home does not have to be the complex, expensive undertaking that some imagine. Once homeowners become aware of the many low cost alternatives, like the Skylink SC-100 home security system ,there really is no longer an excuse for not protecting your home and family.
