There can be a need for personal alarms now a day for a number of reasons. The number one reason these alarms would be used is for protection. When you find yourself traveling along at night or during the day, having the use of a personal alarm can provide you with a mild sense of security.

If you are someone that needs to travel at night or usually partake in activities that normally are done along, then these alarms are good to have on your person.

When looking to carry a personal alarm, you may want to consider the reason you may find yourself in a position to use it. If you travel alone often, if you work at night or on different shifts, if you have a disability and may need assistance due to an accident or if you just want to feel comfortable in your surroundings. Having a personal alarm available can help ease anxieties that could arise with any of these situations.

An alarm that can be personally carried on your person comes in different sizes with minimal features. Though they are relatively small in size there are variations. There are different names that are used to characterize them such as a personal defense alarm, portable safety alarm, personal safety devices or also known as a personal security alarm.

Because these alarms are made to be carried on you person, meaning on your body, in your purse or pants, somewhere that is easily accessible; they come in miniature sizes. Some of these devices have attached strings that can be attached to your clothing or bag and some may have lanyard strings that can be hung around the neck.

You will have to decide the best carrying option that fits your need. If you feel more comfortable having immediate access to the alarm then a hand carried one or one with an attachable string may work. Since they are small in size, these items can be carried by a small child if necessary as well as woman in their hands is an optional way to carry while walking, jogging or participating in any activities that is feasible for holding it.

Though the alarm may be miniature in size, which makes it the perfect hidden device, it packs a powerful punch with at least 120 decibel ear piercing high pitch sound. The sound has a deafening piercing effect that resembles the screeching of a siren which will award or deter any attacker. Whereas these alarms are not defense mechanisms within themselves; couple with another devices such as mace or pepper spray, it can be effective deterrent during an attack.

It is not only good to use as a personal alarm to ward off any emergent attack, but it is definitely good to have in case of an incident or accident. If you have injured yourself and need assistance the alarm on this safety device will bring attention to others that may be passing by alerting them to the fact that you are in need of help.
