Today, personal and home security are paramount. Just two generations ago we left the house unlocked and the keys in the ignition of the car (or under the floor-mat). Things have changed. Today, people are doing everything they can to increase safety and security. Dakota Alert WMA-3000 Wireless Driveway Alarm Systems have become a popular option in achieving this end (and for good reason).
Dakota Alert Incorporated, the maker of the WMA-3000 is a modest, South Dakota family-run business with inauspicious beginnings. Living out in the far-reaching prairies of the Dakotas, their isolation prompted them to devise an alarm system to let them know when someone was ‘coming down the lane’. Necessity is still the mother of invention!
After rigging up an alert system that would warn them up at the house if anyone was coming up the drive the light bulb clicked on above their collective heads. Others in the area could use the system too (and many ended up wanting one). Things grew from there.
Displaying an obvious dedication to both quality and service, Dakota Alert has moved to the front of the field and is now the leading manufacturer of wireless alert equipment. Their units allow you to passively monitor your premises with ease and to be alerted to any type of intrusion (friendly or otherwise). Easy to install and simple to operate, they work coming right out of the packing carton.
The basic WMA-3000 has two components. The transmitter is installed outside and detects movement using cutting-edge infrared technology. The beam it sends out is invisible. The receiver goes inside and is responsible for sounding an alarm whenever it’s triggered by a transmitter. A total of four zones can be covered by each receiver, requiring only the installation of additional transmitters.
The infrared beam used by the transmitting unit can cover a distance of up to 80′, depending on terrain. The transmitters and receiver can be separated by as much distance as 600′. You can have the driveway in one zone, the garage in a second and the front and back yards as two more. One receiver can handle it all and if you need more you can just add another base unit and more sensors.
You can even get a portable receiver that allows you to receive an alert when you’re not in proximity of the base unit. It works even when you’re not home and will record any events that occur (noting time, date and zone of each disturbance). The remote is small and lightweight and is easily carried or clipped onto your clothes.
The transmitter included in the Dakota Alert WMA-3000 wireless driveway alarm runs off of a common 9-volt battery. It’s durable, designed for rough weather and can be located conveniently on a wall, a post or a tree. The inside receiver unit simply plugs into any outlet. Additional ‘bells and whistles’ (literally!) can be added to the system to provided a greatly amplified alarm. Even an automatic dialer to provide telephone notification is available. This is one VERY functional system!
