Adt Home Security Systems – The Biggest And The Best

Things have changed considerably since the days when we were growing up in the 50′s and 60′s. Back then the doors to the house were almost always unlocked and the keys to the car could often be found under the floor-mat or above the sun visor. But even in those days of perceived domestic tranquility Adt home security was on the job protecting people from intrusion. In fact, they’ve been at it for 130 years plus!

If your home isn’t currently protected by an effective security system you might be surprised at how inexpensive it is to get this taken care of. The peace of mind afforded the home occupants of a well-protected house is enormous. Not only are your possessions guarded from theft and fire but your very life is safer, not to mention the lives of all those living under your roof.

Home safety technology has advanced by leaps and bounds in the past few decades. Systems have become wireless, making installation much easier and less expensive than in years gone by. ADT has remained on the constant cutting edge of this technology and has been the largest single provider of building security systems for more than a century. If you want the best system at the best price you need look no further.

With the advent of wireless technology installation of a whole house security system is fast and easy. And with the use of microprocessors in the equipment costs have plummeted. Many ADT retailers will charge nothing for the basic equipment and the customer is only required to pay a slight installation fee. If your system is monitored continually by the company which, of course, it should be, there will also be a recurring monthly charge. This allows your home to be protected 24/7, whether the dwelling is occupied or not.

The most basic application of a home alarm system is protection from intruders. All doors and windows are guarded from unauthorized entry and, when breached, will alert the homeowner and the monitoring company both. The monitoring company will, in turn, notify the proper authorities and police can be dispatched to investigate.

Add-ons to the basic system can include protection from fire, smoke, carbon monoxide and can even call an ambulance in the event of a medical emergency. Even when you’re not at home there are means for you to receive a trouble alert no matter what your location. The communications technology employed with these systems is awesome and the likelihood of something like a burglary occurring in a protected building is dramatically reduced.

The first and most visible protection an ADT system provides is through ‘in your face’ advertising. Signs posted conspicuously around the grounds and stickers applied to each window and door will let any would-be bad guy know you’re protected. He’ll probably just leave and try someplace else.

Yes, our perception of threats against people and property have changed considerably in the last fifty years. Adt home security systems have never been more popular or more necessary. If you’ve been thinking about becoming protected you couldn’t do better.

Why You Need The Master Lock 5400D Key Storage Box

If you want to limit the persons that have access to your home, the Master Lock 5400D Select Access Key Storage Box is often a good choice. Whether allowing Realtor s to show your home, giving access to vacation rentals or preventing lock out from your own home, the box keeps a key secure for use by those who need access. It might even be useful to keep a spare vehicle key secure.

The shank of the key box is made to fit around a standard doorknob. It could be locked around many other secure metal parts of a home or vehicle. For more permanent installation, Master Lock makes a similar device that can be secured to the home using screws.

Master Lock lets you choose the combination for the lock. If you have more than one property, you might want to set all to the same combination. If the security of the box is breached, the combination can be changed easily to keep your home secure.

If others need access to your home and you cannot be there, the key box is an ideal option. Realtors often use these lock boxes to allow showing of properties by other realtors. There is no need for the owner to be at home for the showing. The key can also be used by inspectors than must have access to the home to close the deal. It can also provide access for those that need to make repairs to close the deal.

With vacation properties, installing a key box means that the owners do not have to meet the renters each week to supply a key. Simply give the new renters the combination once they have completed their contract and payment has been completed. The can arrive at their leisure and you can be busy with other tasks.

Anyone that has ever locked themselves out of their own home will know how valuable a lock box can be. If you have teens that seem to be unable to keep up with a key, the combination box can allow them in the home when school is out. The cost of a box is only a fraction of the cost of one visit from a locksmith. It offers much greater security than hiding a key under a rock or doormat.

The lock box could even be used to store a auto key for quick access. Since it is not waterproof, the box should probably be attached to the vehicle when you arrive at your destination. It would be a great solution for keeping everything secure while at the beach with no fear of losing the keys. If attached to the vehicle while driving, you should install the box somewhere that it is not going to be exposed to water or excess heat from the motor or exhaust.

A Master Lock 5400D Select Access Key Storage Box can be used to give access to authorized persons when you cannot be at the home. The combination can be changed as necessary. It offers affordable security for your home.

How Pool Alarms Prevent Accidental Drownings

If ever there was a great idea this is it! How many times when we were kids did we hear about some kid falling into a neighborhood pool and drowning? It seemed like a fairly common occurrence here in Arizona, where there are so many pools. Had they had effective pool alarms back then, in the 60′s, these tragedies could have been mostly avoided. The technology was certainly available at that time, but no one had yet put it to this particular use.

Today, there’s no excuse for anyone owning a swimming pool not to have it properly protected to prevent someone falling in and drowning. There are many, many options for accomplishing the installation of a suitable alarm system for your swimming area. Some are as simple as pulling a small unit out of the shipping box, turning on the switch and placing it in the pool to be protected.

Most legal jurisdictions require that any pool being constructed must be built to certain codes. These regulations will almost certainly require erection of a protective barrier around the pool area, such as a fence. There’s a good chance that said fence will contain some type of entryway, such as a door or gate. Alarms are available for the purpose of alerting the home occupant when someone has opened the entryway, thus warning them that someone has entered the pool area.

Of course, every parent should know that having an infant, especially a toddler, around a swimming pool requires extra vigilance. Children aren’t conscious of the risks involved but, as non-swimmers around a body of water, they are in constant danger. Diverting your attention even briefly could spell disaster. Fortunately, there are means for reducing this risk to almost zero.

One of the most popular alert systems for pools is also one of the easiest to operate. It consists of a unit that floats in the water and sends an alert whenever a wave upsets its peaceful tranquility. The sensitivity can be adjusted to preclude false alarms, such as those from a water feature in the pool.

Another frequently used design of alarm utilizes ultrasonic technology, similar to that employed by dolphins and submarines. A unit is placed in the body of water to be protected and the child at risk is fitted with a wrist or ankle bracelet. The alert is sounded any time the bracelet makes contact with the water. One advantage of this system is that it is totally transportable, meaning you can take it on vacation or to the neighbor’s pool to protect your children there too. Collars are also available to protect your pet in the same manner.

This ultrasonic system has the advantage of being effective even while others are using the pool. The wave sensitive type will have to be removed while people are using the facilities, since they will certainly be making waves. Windy conditions can also be the source of some false alarms with this type of set up.

There is a slight brouhaha afoot concerning some Asian manufacture of alarm systems that very closely resemble more expensive, American made products. Many of the Internet sites selling pool alarms proudly proclaim their units to be Made in the U. S. A. And that in itself might be a good selling point. There is definitely a difference in the quality of construction. You decide what’s best for your particular purposes but, if you own a pool, please make sure you also own an alarm.

Why Purchasing A Child GPS Locator Is A Good Idea

If you are a parent, your child is most likely the most important thing in the world to you and you would do anything to protect him or her. Some parents express this need to protect their children by trying to shelter them from everything in the world and by limiting the amount of time they are allowed to spend outside or away from home. However, this is probably not the best method, since kids need to experience the world outside at some point. If you are interested in keeping your children safe, but also want them to have lives of their own, you may be interested in investing in a child GPS locator.

A good locator allows you to track your children’s movements at any given time. Some will allow you to log into a portal on a website and view a map showing exactly where your child is. You may also be able to track their movements through an app on your cell phone, depending upon the device you choose and the type of phone you own. A smart phone usually works best.

GPS locators come in many different forms. Some are embedded within watches, while others may be small devices a child wears around his or her neck or it may be in the form of a very small tag.

The key to choosing the right device for your needs is to look for a product that your child will wear or carry around at all times. Some of the watches, for instance, come in bright colors and fun designs that appeal to children.

Do not purchase a locator just because it is cheap. Make sure it has all of the features you need. For example, it needs to be waterproof and it must be able to take a beating. Kids have a tendency to get messy and to play roughly with their possessions.

Some locators will offer some great functions, like a roaming alert. This alert will occur when your child wanders a certain distance from a device that you either keep in your home or on yourself. When they have wandered away, it will begin to vibrate, beep, or do both of those things. In order to help you find your child, the locator will show which direction to move in and will also give you an indicator to let you know when you are getting farther or closer to your child.

Be very careful when choosing a locator. Find a device that has a good locator range on it and be sure that it can maintain contact with the device your child is wearing even if they enter a building or wander very far away from you. Some devices are unable to hold their signal when the tagged person enters a building, so be sure to read the fine print on any item you consider purchasing.

Many people are now using cell phones in conjunction with locators or as locators themselves. There are certain brands of cell phones that can be turned into GPS trackers. All you have to do is enable them by downloading an app onto them. The phone can then be tracked online for free or for a fee.

A child GPS locator can help protect your children, but you have to choose the right device. Find something that allows you to map their whereabouts or a device that alerts you when they have wandered off.

Logitech WiLife Digital Video Security System reviewed

Some think security camera systems are simply for the rich whose houses are filled with expensive belongings and various rare paintings. While this may be true for some individuals, it’s important to note that they’re integral to the protection of our families as well. Providing additional coverage on top of locks and alarm systems, cameras allow for recording the intrusion while it’s happening and recording it for later use. It helps make your home a safer place. However, simply constraining cameras to that use and that use alone is folly, as they have purposes beyond that. They can be used for keeping an eye on a young child or an ill elder. The Logitech WiLife Digital Video Security system is perfect in this sense, as it’s cheap in comparison to professional systems and can be expanded easily.

Advantages

This system provides easy expansion and can allow for an additional five cameras on top of the one packaged with the start kit. The indoor camera can be mounted on the ceiling, on the window to face inwards or outwards or simply placed on a flat surface. This is made easy with the provided mounts, which simply stick to flat surfaces or can be screwed onto walls. The outdoor cameras are fully weatherproof and have better reception due to the likelihood of them being further away as well as competing with additional walls.

For a clean setup, you can aim for around 15 minutes setup time ideally. It’s as simple as installing the software and plugging in the cameras and receiver. Furthermore, the software provides several decent features, such as the time line, which allows you see the recorded video feed for the selected time of day through one or all of the connected cameras. Also, it is possible to set up an alert system, which sends alerts to your email or mobile phone whenever motion is detected by a certain camera. It should be noted that this is only available for Microsoft Windows phones.

Disadvantages

As a starter kit, the quality should be expected to be lower than that of a high-end professional system. It sells for around $300 and provides only a single camera. Furthermore, some of the advanced software features requires a subscription to access. This software is also somewhat more difficult to install should you have any troubles. If you’re not tech savvy, it may take more than the prescribed fifteen minutes to setup. This is where the help line comes in handy, though they have been known to connect you to people who know little more than you do.

Some hardware issues are that the cameras must be within a certain distance of the receiver to function properly and they require manually focusing; there’s no auto-focus available. Additionally, they have a bright light, which diminishes their ability to be hidden from intruders and may keep light sleepers awake. On the other hand, if you want some visible deterrent, then the light serves this purpose.

Is It Worth It?

If you want a professional solution to protecting your family, then this is not it. This is simply a starter kit made for keeping an eye on certain things, like a young child. It won’t win any awards for quality, but it does provide an excellent starter for those getting into the security-conscious world.

Wireless Home Security System Buying Guide

Within the last few years, wireless technology appears to have taken over the way Americans think of the average electronic appliance. From computers to stereos, kitchen appliances to information, wireless technology has transformed the way people interact with one another as well as within their homes. Lately, the wireless craze has been heading in a new direction and has created the wireless home security system.

As with any home security system, the wireless option offers home protection with security alerts and alarms systems to advise the owner if anyone tries to enter a protected zone. However, one of the major differences with the wireless option as opposed to the basic home security system is the undeniable fact of the wireless systems simplicity. No wires, plugs, or hard installation process. For those whom have enough trouble setting up a television set, wireless home security systems are extremely easy to install and are portable to any room and/or home of the owners choosing.

A large variety of wireless systems offer the added attraction of no monthly fees that need to be payable to a professional security monitoring company. Theses electronic security systems will protect a predetermined area and can not only be programmed to alert via sirens, but can also signal alarm activation with strobe lights, while calling multiple user programmed phone numbers,in the event of a burglary attempt. The recipients of the call will most likely here a pre-recorded message from the home owner with specific instructions on what to do. Remote controls are also a very popular option within the wireless system. The hand held remote controls are usually provided and allows the owner the ability to control the system from any area of the home.

Unlike other systems, the majority of wireless security offers protection through inferred lasers that, when triggered sound alarms. No actual recollection of the actual intruder is recorded. Because of this, wireless security is better suited toward home or room protection rather than business or areas that cover a wide area of space.

As for price range on the wireless security systems, they are all quite affordable with a majority of them offering a one time flat price, since many of the wireless options have no corresponding monthly fees.

The average price for wireless runs approximately around $200. Nevertheless, just by shopping around using Internet search engines, anyone could find a sale. Decent systems will not drop below $120; however, the more expensive the system, the more refined the product while offering more options of security to the owner.

Granted, even a small window alarm could be considered wireless home security and runs about $12. In this economy any security, no matter how small, could really make a difference. Fitting the right system to a budget of what can be spent is a very noble tactic, and figuring in wireless protection would help keep that safeguard available without costing the average family or household more than what they are willing to spend on the initial system.

Wireless home security systems are really affordable and very easy to install. This kind of coverage would benefit absolutely any household.

Self Defense Tips For Women

Physical self defense is all about inflicting the maximum amount of damage quickly, allowing yourself a safe and quick escape from the situation at hand. While all individuals should have basic training in defending themselves, it is of vital importance for women who are often considered the more vulnerable and likely to be attacked. Self defense for women is indeed a necessity.

When you are attacked, it is pretty certain that it is not the time to try to talk your way out of the situation. Often the predator will either be drunk, high, physiologically ill, or have another serious condition that will keep common sense from reaching them. You will need to have a little education so that you can react quickly to inflict pain and or injury so that you are able to escape unharmed.

Of course there are some easy solutions that women can take to protect themselves. Especially those who live around dangerous areas or large cities should carry a form of protection at all times. This could simply be a gun (although you will have to have the required permits to carry this weapon), or a pepper spray.

Pepper spray is very effective and can be snapped onto ones keys or purse in the event of an unfortunate event such as this. These can offer protection against human attackers, and animals such as dogs. These are both great solutions to consider as a form of protection.

Another great option is to enroll in some self defense classes. These would be helpful in that they will teach you to remain calm and think clearly in an emergency situation, giving you confidence to face your attacker and prevail. The goal of any self defense class will primarily be to train one to recognize and avoid a confrontation before it actually occurs. But in those instances where this is not possible, you will need to know how to protect yourself.

No matter how large an attacker may be, it will not take a significant amount of force to damage him in such a way that he is forced down, allowing your escape. You will need to actually bodily injure your attacker to hurt him and bring him down. And if you know the rules of physics and physiology well enough, you will be able to do this with ease.

Keep in mind that physical self defense will not involve a wrestling match in any way. Actually, this is exactly what you are seeking to avoid. Instead, you should be able to quickly evaluate the situation and choose the best method for inflicting pain and injury to your opponent without allowing them to get to you first.

This can involve a broken or disjointed bone, gouged eyes, a ruptured testicle, or some other such easy to inflict injury. You will need to create a reaction in your opponent that will inflict such pain upon them that they will not be able to think about anything else for the moment, allowing you the chance to make your escape. And this is exactly what you should do at the first possible chance.

Review Of The Biolock 333 SN-BK Biometric Door Lock

Biometrics is the science of recognizing people through their behavior, and or physical traits. The security field has recently begun incorporating biometrics for the purposes of computer security and as a replacement for passwords, numerical codes, and security tokens used on electronic locks. Biometric locks use iris and retinal scanning, voice print identification, and fingerprint scanning instead. The Biolock 333 SN-BK Biometric Door Lock may be one option for those who want the level of security and convenience of biometric locks. Like other technology it has its strengths and weaknesses.

Biolock’s promotional items insist that the Biolock 333 SN-BK Biometric Door lock is an innovative device that provides entry door security equal to or better than systems used in government buildings such as the Pentagon. They promote its many features, and highlight its rugged construction and user friendliness. It has a LED control panel, remote control, and zinc alloy body. In an emergency it can be unlocked with a key like any common lock.

The lock’s memory can handle the fingerprints of up to 99 users, enough to accommodate all of your residents, staff members, and guests.

The Biolock 333 SN-BK Biometric Door Lock also has three levels of registered users. The highest level user is the Super Master. Registered first, the Super Master has the authority to add or delete any of the other users. The next level are the Master Users. The second and third users registered, the Master Users can add or delete users 4 through 99. The final level is the ordinary User. Ordinary Users are granted permission to use the door but can’t add or delete other users.

Biolock believes that fingerprints are the best way to control who enters your home or business. They assert that fingerprints can’t be copied. However, this is not strictly the case as it has been shown that common materials such as play dough and simple techniques can be used to fool most fingerprint readers.

Fingerprint readers can also sometimes misread fingerprints. As noted in security expert Bruce Schneier’s blog Schneier on Security, officials in Britain uninstalled a security system that used finger print recognition from one of their prisons when prisoners managed bypass the fingerprint reader and freely pass through the system.

Reviews for the Biolock 333 SN-BK Biometric Door Lock have been mixed. In positive reviews it is lauded as an inexpensive, easy to program, and easily installed replacement for common locks.

Negative reviews complain that while it seems like a good idea, it has been poorly designed and executed. Problems with the Biolock 333 SN-BK Biometric Door Lock include its inability to read finger prints that were dry, came from small fingers, or came from older users.

Further complaints against it include is failure at cold temperatures above those mentioned in the manual; that it can’t be installed on doors with deadbolts; the poor owner’s manual; and the inability to contact Biolock’s technical support. According to users who’ve managed to contact tech support, the only assistance they ever offer is Biolock representative reading the manual to frustrated users. Positive reviews also mentioned some of these problems, especially with the lack of tech support.

Here is a review of GE home security system. General Electric has been established for over 125 years as the leading contributor of so many goods and services in the world. The company currently has around 300,000 employees in different countries. Thomas Edison was the genius who introduced multiple businesses to what is today known as GE. The motto of this enterprise is to make the world a brighter place. This is the slogan you see on all GE banners and advertisements. And now they have launched top of the range alarm systems.

Burglar alarms are nothing new in the market. They have been available for a long time now. But as the technology advances and improves, these alarms have become even better than before. There are simple to complex installation systems that come with burglar alarms. The choice is entirely yours.

GE is well known for providing excellent customer service and high quality products. There are a lot of stores offering GE goods and some even provide a complete package security system such as the Concord Ultra, Caddx NX6 and the Caddx NX8E. These burglar alarms are the latest innovative systems that will work effectively to ward off unwanted intruders at night.

Home safety is extremely important and your house can be protected 24 hours a day without the worry of anyone breaking in the property. Apart from protecting the property from burglars, your family is also protected from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by fires. You can now enjoy your life and sleep peacefully with GE security alarms that are modern and inexpensive.

In case you did not know this already, When it comes to purchasing homeowner insurance, the premiums will be as much as 20% less every month if you install a GE security system. This is a great saving on premiums as well as protecting your home.

The above are just some of the many benefits of introducing GE to your life. You can find many stores that offer GE products on alarm systems. Some even offer free installation service so you only need to pay for the monitoring every month. So you not only save money but increase your home security too.

If you wish to maximize the protection and security of your property, always opt for well known companies such as GE when deciding on making any purchases. This reputable and widely trusted company has still remained competitive even up to now. People nowadays need instant access to information, products and services. General Electric strives to exceed customer expectations and conduct a friendly, top notch service. In fact the company began moving towards customer service quality since 1980 and has achieved many goals along the way with regards to customer loyalty.

The second place to look for GE home security systems is the internet. Just make sure you appoint an authorized installer from the company rather than a fake one. You will be surprised with the reasonable prices of their products, lifetime warranty of the parts and twenty four hour monitoring services. It is no wonder so many families prefer to stay loyal to GE year after year for 100 percent total home protection.

Wireless Home Security Systems And Why Burglars Hate them

How important is it to ensure that your home is as secure as possible? For most people this is often a priority. Unfortunately there has been a spike of home burglaries and break-ins over the last couple of years as the recession has forced more people into economic hardship. If you are concerned about the risk to your property, belongings, and family then the solution may be to check out a selection of wireless home security systems and find one that meets your requirements and expectations exactly.

More of us are now opting for wireless security systems over the traditional designs that were popular for many years. This is because the technology has improved considerably and also they are straightforward to install.

In an old fashioned wired security system there would have been a control panel as well as sensors placed in targeted positions around the home. As each component was connected with wires it could be a very complicated and expensive task ensuring that all possible access points where covered adequately.

With a wireless set up there are fewer problems as each component is connected through radio signals. This also means that they are far more difficult to tamper with. A burglar cannot simply snip the wires as was previously the case. A wireless security system requires batteries rather than electricity so this also has obvious benefits.

Each device or sensor has a built in transmitter which sends information to a central receiver. This in turn is fitted with an alarm which is triggered when there is unauthorised access. Depending on the design, the main receiver and control panel can also highlight exactly where the intrusion has taken place. This is important to quickly take action against the break in.

There are plenty of other advantages that can be had by choosing a wireless set up as opposed to the older designed security systems. For example it is possible for the information to be sent to your cell phone or a remote station as and when the alarm is triggered. You can have peace of mind that wherever you may be you will be sure that your home is as secure as possible at all times. They can also be made to transmit a warning if fire or flooding breaks out thus saving you immense heartache.

Though the benefits are clearly apparent there are a few disadvantages that come with wireless home security systems. The batteries in the sensors will need to be replaced on a regular basis to ensure the charge is adequate. The building material used in the construction of your home can weaken the signals that are sent to the main receiver as can electrical interference.

At the end of the day after weighing up the pros and cons most of us would still opt for a new wireless security system as they are more effective than a wired design. Also you do not need to hire a professional to install and maintain the various parts.
